THAT’S THE BUTTON DOWN

by egrstyle

The button-down collar was introduced at the end of 1800’s by John Brooks, grandson of the founder of Brooks Brothers. His design inspiration came after attending an English polo match where he observed the players’ shirts secured with buttons to keep them from flapping in the wind. The shirt became an instant success and soon one of the best-selling Brooks Brothers items.

The soft roll collar is an unlined  non fused collar: that’s creates the typical shape of the original button-down collar both wearing it unbottoned or with a tie.
